Tryouts Information

Get Ready for 2025

We’re still finalizing details for 2025, but here’s what you can expect. As we get closer to next year, we’ll post all the important info on dates, times, and how to register.

  • Who: Open to all students entering grades 9-12 (2025-2026 8th graders can try out for JV or Freshman teams depending on skill level).

  • What: Competitive tryouts that will include physical drills, technical skills, small-sided games, and full scrimmages.

  • Where: Tryouts will take place at Zachary Playfields and the High School Stadium (location details will follow).

  • When: Tryouts will be held in August. We’ll share exact dates and times as soon as we have them locked in.

  • Why: Tryouts are where you prove you’ve got what it takes to make our squad. Whether you’re going for Varsity, JV, or B Squad, it’s your chance to show your skills and compete for a spot. We’re looking for players who are ready to work hard, push their limits, and represent Armstrong Soccer.

Team Breakdown: The 3 P's

  • 9A & B Squad (Participatory):
These teams are all about getting players involved and giving everyone the chance to play and develop. Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will have the opportunity to contribute and gain valuable experience in the program. If you're new to high school soccer or looking to develop your game, this is where you can build your skills and grow.

  • JV (Preparatory):
The JV team is focused on preparing players for the next level. This is for athletes who are serious about working their way up to Varsity. Players on JV will develop their technical, tactical, and mental skills to get ready for the high intensity and competition of the Varsity level.

  • Varsity (Performance):
Varsity is all about performance. We’re looking for players who are ready to compete at the highest level and help lead the team to success. If you're on Varsity, you’ll be expected to deliver top-tier performance, represent Armstrong High School with pride, and perform when it matters most.

What You’ll Need:

  • Physical Exam: Make sure you have an up-to-date physical on file with the school. Without it, you can’t try out.

  • Soccer Gear: Bring your cleats, ball, and plenty of water. Come ready to work.

  • Tryout Shirt: Every player will receive a numbered tryout shirt, which will also be your training shirt for the season.

We’re looking forward to seeing you out there. Get ready for tryouts, and stay tuned for more details as we get closer.
